Twenty years ago when Buffalo Center Junior High and High School joined with Titonka and Thompson schools, I met my lifelong best friend, Kellie. I remember the day I met all the kids in the Titonka incoming 8th grade class that fall. I went home and reported my findings to my sister. I told her that I wasn’t quite sure who I would become close friends with throughout the course of the year, but there was one girl named Sara that seemed to be the nicest and one girl named Kellie that seemed to be the coolest! Twent years later, I realize that picking the coolest girl in the school was the best choice! Thankfully, she turned about to be pretty nice, too!
Kellie and her kids, Lucy and Elias, were able to fly into Kentucky last week to visit while her husband was out of town. We spent our 20 year friendship anniversary reminiscing our years together in junior high, high school, and as college roommates. We were in awe of just how much grace God has had on our lives over the past twenty years. We also were able to encourage one another greatly and of course we also spent the time changing diapers, chasing kids, breaking up sibling squabbles and laughing and laughing and laughing some more. It wasn’t exactly what we first had in mind when we planned this get together, but we ended up enjoying our time together. We were reminded just how much God has blessed us in both of our lives.

It was a great time! I’m so glad I came and so thankful for a friend like you! That first pic is pretty funny! I remember that being one of my favorite shirts too.
I meant to say after my shirt comment – that mentioning that was a moot (or is it mute?!) point. Hee hee- now I can’t stop laughing!
[...] are some pics. Check out her blog too for a few more. Oh and a big thanks to Doug for putting up with us all week. By us I mean [...]
I must say, you have both aged well
. Sounds like a fun time!
I see they both got dolled up for the last pic…lipstick and everything! they are cuteis that is for sure and always revert to “kid”s when they are together!! love them both very much!
Love the way you coordinated your colors for the picture too! I agree with Traci…you are both aging well!
Um…it really isn’t too hard to appear as if we’re aging well compared to that ugs pic I posted of us! I think that was actually a couple years after junior high, too, so we can’t blame it on the ugly junior high years! And BTW-that pink sweater was My favorite shirt at the time, too!! What was up with the curly manes we both were sporting!?!?
I just said to Dustin that picture is so dog- and he said it’s funny she was willing to put it up on her blog. I didn’t know it was quite that bad! Kellie
Um… didn’t he read the post, that you were, in fact, the coolest girl in the school. And since I was the chosen BFF, I must have been at least somewhat cool. So, in other words, that shirt, that hair-do… it was all cool!! I’d like to see a pic of him 20 years ago!!!
curly was in style!
Christa,
We thought are girls were cuties then but aren”t they beauties today? Linda
